SLED Certified Concealed Weapons Training Course

It's possible to complete your training for the concealed weapons permit in a single day!

The Real Estate School of South Carolina is pleased to partner with Thomas Spires to offer the SLED Certified Concealed Weapons Course.

Thomas began shooting at a young age. His grandfather, a World War I veteran, took on the role of instructor. "At times, his instruction was about as rough as a crocus sack. My lessons were on a Remington Target Master single shot, bolt action .22 rifle. This rifle would chamber .22 shorts, longs and long rifle cartridges. As this rifle was used also to dispatch snakes and such, take wild game (squirrels and rabbits) for the table, it became all important to make the first shot count."

"This rifle was and is still very accurate. It was acquired from the Sheriff's Department after it was confiscated during a raid on a moonshine still. The Sheriff gave Granddaddy the rifle, since they were close friends. After a few years of using that rifle, I began with the shotgun and a bit later, the handgun. Some few years after that, being a Navy veteran, I received formal side arm training on the Colt 1911A1 .45 ACP as a recruit during basic training. This training was my first formal experience."

"I believe in Jesus Christ and have accepted him as my Savior. I support the Constitution of the United States of America and believe in the Second Amendment. I have great trust and respect for our law enforcement officers and first responders who sacrifice daily for us," Thomas said. He is a member of the NRA and certified by them as a handgun trainer. He is certified by SLED to teach the South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit Course, which he has taught since 2010.

The main portion of the class will be held in our comfortable facility in West Columbia and begins at 8:30am and runs until approximately 3:00pm. We will then depart for the firing range to complete the training.
